Markant AG is a service organization for several large food and non-food retail groups in Germany. With about 100 participating retailers, mainly supermarket and hypermarket groups, the combined gross consumer sales in Germany in 2002 was about 36 billion euro with about 20% of this being for non food?items.
Markant Trading Organisation (Far East) Ltd. (MTO) in Hong Kong is a subsidiary of Markant AG and provides specifically tailored sourcing and support services for the Markant Group. Our financial services package for Markant members is particulary interesting. MTO is a committed team that promotes direct relationships between buyers and suppliers ?similarly to Markant AG ?acting as a mediator and facilitator for orders, follow-up and supply chain management.
In addition to these services our trading division is very specialized for household products and our group purchases an extensive range of household and kitchen items.
In 2002 we handled orders with about 520 suppliers
The total order volume in Asia handled was approx. US$ 70 million
